Fair vs. Equal: Supporting All Students’ Needs
November 16, 2017 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Accommodations and modifications are available in a variety of settings, not just a school environment. Just think if you go out to eat at restaurant with a younger child. If the server offers the child a booster seat, then the server is providing the child with an accommodation to reach the table. Then the server hands an adult menu to you and a kid’s menu to the child. The server is providing the child with a modification of the menu. Accommodations and modifications are both meant to help the individual, but they accomplish this in different ways. In this webinar, we will explain the difference between an accommodation and modification, describe different types of each, and then apply a strategy to an assignment to help the student access the general education curriculum.
